Bobby Barad
Founder and President, THE SPORTYS, Inc.

New York native Bobby Barad, 37, is a successful sports attorney with more than ten years of experience in the industry. Throughout his career, Mr. Barad has represented more than 20 Major League Baseball players, including New York Yankees second baseman, Robinson Cano. Most recently, Barad created The Sportys (www.thesportys.com), an animated children’s DVD series which is designed to educate kids on the fundamentals of sports, while imparting valuable lessons that are as important on the playing field as they are in life.

Mr. Barad drew from both his professional and personal experience to create The Sportys. A married father of two young boys, he developed the concept for The Sportys after an evening of watching baseball with his son and teaching him the basics of the sport with innovative descriptions that effectively held the then 3-year-old’s interest. Mr. Barad set out to create an animated children’s DVD that captures the essence of the sport and is as fun and entertaining as an animated children’s TV series, while simultaneously teaching important concepts such as teamwork and being a good sport.

Mr. Barad surrounded himself with a veteran team of developers and animators, including Dan Yaccarino, the talented illustrator behind the animated stars of hit children’s programs such as Oswald and The Backyardigans, who created The Sportys’ “team” of diverse boy and girl characters. He also won the support of Academy Award-nominee Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, Kung Fu Panda, Brother Bear 1 and 2), who voices the new DVD’s lead character, Stitch the supportive baseball. Celebrated Major League Baseball player Brady Clark, Mr. Barad’s longtime client and friend, serves as Executive Producer of the new title. The Sportys also includes a live-action segment with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long. In addition, 2008 Rookie of the Year, Evan Longoria, has recently “stepped to the plate” for The Sportys. The new title comes equipped with an exclusive collectible poster with special tips from Mr. Longoria, who is also featured on the DVD’s packaging.

A portion of sales proceeds from The Sportys will be donated to the RBI Foundation, a national non-profit organization that uses baseball to provide inner-city youth with opportunities to play, learn and grow. The Foundation aims to inspire children to recognize their potential and pursue their dreams.

In addition to his career as a sports attorney, Mr. Barad founded and runs The Youth Program, a “sports school” for young athletes in the community, at The Gym located near his home in Armonk, NY.

Mr. Barad lives with his wife, Dara; and two sons, Ben, 6; and Justin, 3.
